Woman to Woman!
Raw reflections. Real talk.
Gems you didn’t know you needed.
These are honest letters, heart-to-hearts, and soulful reminders—shared from one woman to another. Come as you are. Leave a little lighter, wiser, and seen.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about what makes love last—not just feel good, but go the distance. Not the butterflies and chemistry, but the real foundation underneath it all. And then I stumbled across this quote by Michel de Montaigne that stopped me in my tracks:
“A good marriage, if any there be, refuses the conditions of love and endeavors to present those of amity.”
In other words—real, lasting love doesn’t always look like a rom-com or a passionate novel. It looks like friendship. The quiet kind. The safe kind. The kind that lets you exhale and be fully, unapologetically you.
It reminded me of another quote attributed to him:
“Marriage, a market which has nothing free but the entrance.”
And whew—ain’t that a word? The commitment may be easy to step into, but what follows? That’s where the truth of the bond shows up. Still, what if the “work” of marriage isn’t always hard or heavy? What if sometimes, it just… works?
Someone commented under the quote saying she’s been married for almost 20 years—and she humbly can’t relate when people say marriage is hard. She and her husband got married just three months after meeting. And somehow, it’s still light. Still joyful.
Another person said, “enjoying the silence of your partner is what keeps a marriage lasting.”
That part really struck me. What did she even mean by that—enjoying the silence of your partner?
The more I sat with it, the more it made sense. It’s the kind of comfort where silence isn’t awkward—it’s intimate. You don’t feel the need to fill every moment with words. It’s sitting side by side, each doing your own thing, and still feeling connected. No tension. No pressure. Just peace.
Ever seen the movie The Notebook? There’s this quiet scene—not one of the dramatic, rainy kiss moments—but one where they’re just sitting on the porch swing in old age. No words, just stillness. But there’s so much love in that silence. That kind of scene hits differently when you’ve experienced it in real life.
For me, it’s moments like folding laundry side by side, or even both of us on our phones but in the same room—not saying much, but every once in a while glancing up and smiling. It’s the rhythm of simply being together.
That’s what it means to enjoy the silence of your partner.
It’s when their presence is enough.
It’s when peace doesn’t need to be proven with words.
🌿 Real love isn’t loud—it’s steady.
It’s not always passionate—it’s peaceful.
It doesn’t always dazzle—it grounds you.
It’s not about constant fireworks or Instagram-worthy grand gestures.
It’s the small things:
- Knowing they get you—in all your moods, with or without words.
- Wanting to tell them about your day first.
- Hearing a song and thinking, “This is so him.”
- Sitting in silence and not feeling the need to fill it.
It’s when your favorite person becomes your favorite place. When home isn’t a location anymore, but a feeling. And you find it in their presence.
I remember one night, curled up on the couch with my husband. No music, no show playing, just quiet. We weren’t talking much—just sharing space, a blanket, and the rhythm of being. And I remember thinking: “This right here… I could do this forever.”
Don’t get me wrong—we have the loud times, the angry times, the emotional times. But that silence? That quiet? It’s everything. It’s where the real appreciation settles in. That time of just being is when you get to pause and truly see your partner. To reflect on where you are, honor where you’ve been, and envision where you’re going—together.
And if you lean into the spiritual side of things…
There’s something truly beautiful about the way Scripture speaks about love and union:
💛 Proverbs 18:22 –
“He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.”
Marriage isn’t just a bond—it’s a blessing. Favor. A reflection of God’s goodness in someone you get to do life with.
💛 Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 –
“Two are better than one… If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.”
Love is partnership. It’s holding each other up, especially when life tries to knock you down.
💛 Proverbs 31:11-12 –
“The heart of her husband safely trusts in her… She does him good and not evil all the days of her life.”
This kind of love brings peace. A soft landing. It’s about trust, consistency, and showing up day after day.
💛 Song of Solomon 6:3 –
“I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine…”
That’s the intimacy of real connection. Belonging without ownership. Loving without conditions.
Reading those verses reminded me that love—real, sustaining love—isn’t built overnight. It’s nurtured in the everyday moments. In prayers whispered over each other. In forgiveness after hard conversations. In holding space for growth, change, and still choosing one another.
Whether you’re in a relationship, healing from one, or waiting on the kind of love that feels like home—I hope you know it’s okay to crave something deep, steady, and true.
You deserve a love that brings peace, not pressure.
A connection that holds you in the noise and the stillness.
So woman to woman—don’t get caught up chasing the glitz, the drama, or the highlight reels. Great love isn’t always loud or picture-perfect. Sometimes, it’s the steady glow. The quiet comfort. The deep exhale.
And if you’ve found someone who feels like home—who makes life softer, lighter, and better—hold them close. That kind of love? It’s rare. It’s real. And it’s worth honoring every day.
Until next time…..
